In December of 2003 I started practicing Karate and Aiki Budo with Kyoshi Donahue. I was mainly interested in Aiki Budo but it made sense to go to the Karate class beforehand because of my work schedule. As time went on I grew to enjoy Karate class more and more. Practicing Karate has helped my Aiki Budo practice and my Aiki Budo practice has helped my Karate practice. In July of 2008 I earned the rank of Shodan (black belt) in Shorin Ryu Karate and in October I earned the rank of Shodan in Aiki Budo.
I have had the privilege of training in seminars with the following teachers (in no particular order) :
Soke Mike Pabst (Aiki Budo)
Sensei Sali Azem (Shinbukan)
Master Teruo Chinen (Goju Ryu)
Sensei David Poulicakos (Okinawan Kobudo)
Soke Tom Burdine (Aikido)
Sensei Brian Brown (Aikido)
Kevin Secours (Systema)
Sifu Scott Rodell (Chinese sword)
I currently teach an Aiki Budo class on Thursday mornings and in the past I have taught an adult Karate class and children's Karate class.
Outside of the dojo I have done a variety of different jobs. I have worked as a computer technician, lab coordinator in a high school electronics program, dorm staff and coach at a private high school, machinist at an antique car shop, technology coordinator at an elementary school and a variety of odd jobs as I fix up a old house I bought.
Sempai Eric was promoted to Nidan in Shorin Ryu Karate February 2011.
