Personal Education

Although I had taken a few classes and workshops in T'ai Chi Ch'uan between 1973 and 1983, it wasn't untill the fall of 1983 that I started my formal studies with Paul Gallagher. It was my good fortune to find a teacher of highest quality with a depth of understanding of not only T'ai Chi but also Chi Gung (Qigong), Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese culture. Because of Paul I was able to meet, and study with briefly, his masters T. T. Liang and B. P. Chan

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is only one component of a system to fully develop internal energy. Traditionally a full system would include Qigong, meditation, two person training, and weapons (cane, saber, sword, and staff). As I have stated I was blessed to have a teacher with a complete system and who has had the patience to teach me his entire system.

I was also very blessed to have had the opportunity to study with Master William C. C. Chen, a classmate of Master Liang's in China, for one year in New York City. I have taken many workshops with highly qualified and prominent teachers and masters.

Teaching Experience

In 1991 I was given permission from Paul Gallagher to start teaching T'ai Chi Ch'uan. I started to teach at Solar Hill in Brattleboro that spring and continued until September 2003. During that time I also taught at the Moving Co. in Keen, for two years, at Klara Simpla in Wilmington, Vt. off and on for four years, and for a year at the Gathering Place Adult Day Care Center. Where I taught Animal Frolics Chi Gung to the elderly and impared. In the fall of 2003 I started a class at the Brattleboro School of Budo and currently have a core group of eight students.
