Kyoshi Patrick Donahue started formal training in the Martial Arts in 1976 at the age of six at an American Kenpo Dojo in Taunton, Massachusetts. In 1982, Kyoshi Donahue moved to Nashua, New Hampshire and continued his training, this time at a Chinese Kempo school. After graduating from high school, Kyoshi Donahue continued his martial arts studies with a more serious approach.  Searching for a true traditional Sensei, he finally met a Master Instructor, Sensei Sali Azem, and began training with him in 1988.

Through Azem Sensei, Kyoshi Donahue met and trained with many Budo instructors.  To name a few of them: Hanshi Richard Bernard (Goju-ryu Karate), Shihan Dennis Palumbo (Hakkoryu JuJutsu), Renshi David Poulicakos (Okinawan Kobudo), and Master Teruo Chinen (Goju-ryu Karate-do).

On Kyoshi Donahue's nineteenth birthday he received a gift certificate from his father to train with Soke Mike Pabst. Kyoshi Donahue accepted this gift and began studying with Soke Pabst in 1989. Kyoshi Donahue continues his studies with Soke Pabst to this day as his direct student.

In 1995 Kyoshi Donahue founded and opened the Brattleboro School of Budo. In 1997, Kyoshi Donahue and the School of Budo became official members of Shidokan International, founded by Hanshi Richard Bernard. This partnership continued until 2003 when the Brattleboro School of Budo resigned from Shidokan Intl. The separation occured in good standing and with no ill will. The School of Budo looks forward to future projects with Shidokan International on the Martial Path we are both on.

In 1996, at the request of Soke Mike Pabst, Kyoshi Donahue looked into the Kokonryu Renmei International, an organization that Soke Pabst was affiliated with, headed by Soke Thomas Burdine. In 1998, Kyoshi Donahue and the Brattleboro School of Budo became official members of the Kokonryu Renmei International. In 2006, Brattleboro School of Budo resigned from this organization in good standing and with no ill will. Today, the School of Budo is an independent dojo, continuing to grow with the guidance of Kyoshi Donahue's teacher, Soke Mike Pabst.
